LIVING HISTORY
Civil War Art , Living History, and Reenactment Presentations
At a very early age Stephen Cassle's mother introduced him to two things that would be a constant companion throughout his life, the world of art and the American Civil War. As a child of only three years of age, she began to nurture the natural abilities he possessed and taught him the basic fundamentals of drawing and how to see and capture the subtle characteristics of the human face. As he grew older she continued to encourage him to draw and instilled in him the support and encouragement to dream big and to be creative.
By the time he was eight, Stephen had developed a fascination with the Civil War and his mother saw to it that this interest was also nurtured by presenting him with a book about the struggle between the North and South on Christmas. In doing so, she sparked a fire that reminded Cassle of his heritage and the importance of knowing where his roots were. Over the years Stephen Cassle has continued to develop his skill as an artist and craftsman and has dug ever deeper into the history of the Civil War. An accomplished artist who has created work on various subjects, his work in recent years has been mostly devoted to depicting the Civil War period.
